I had a bad experience with an overly feminist,rude, unwelcoming cashier, since then the owner has talked to me, the cashier has since been fired. The owner told me today that they want everyone to feel welcome. So, I have changed my review from 2 to 4 stars.
Edit, one week later I had to knock off 2 stars because EVERY time I have ever tried to talk to an employee about finding something or making a healthier choice the employee which is willing to help me always gets called away before they can help. This has happened at least 5 times over the past 3 years, too many times to be coincidental. It is evident that there is still someone there who doesn't like me. I'd rather you hate me for who I am than love me for who I'm not.

This is your local health food store. (Shouldn't every store focus on people's health?!) While it's small, they have a decent variety. Friendly staff and centrally located. Hoku is a good alternative to the other helth food store in Kapaa, Papayas. Living in the homesteads, Hoku is a little easier to access though it doesn't have the variety of Papayas. They do have most of the staples necessary in their small shop. If you are staying in Kapaa or passing through consider checking it out for your provisional needs. Think Global, shop local, as the kids say today, LOL.
