Right next to the resort we stay at when we visit Kauai. Not great for snorkeling, but fine for swimming and playing around In the water. Great walking beach and path. Quite a few transients hang out near bathrooms, but not too bad.
Nice ambiance as far as a Hawaiian beach. Beautiful views, nice location, good logistics as far as hanging in Kapaa. Perfect spot for visitors at Pono Kai Resort. There are a few groups of "houseless" people, but for the most part, they want to live, and let live. Met quite a few during my 10 day stay in April, and had a great time interacting. If you're really looking to experience Hawaii, proceed with an 'open' mind, and enjoy what Kapaa, Kappa Beach Park, and the locals afford you to experience.
The walking trail is very long that goes along the coast, makes for a beautiful walk.
The guacamole is delicious
Grab some lunch from the food trucks then walk to the beach and eat in the sand. If you want a full on beach experience, then head into Hanalei.
