When I arrived there was no note and so I found a member of staff who rudely told me that talking to a staff member over the phone wasn't "enough". I asked if they had a bed left and they just yelled back "WE ARE CLOSED - LEAVE NOW!" If they wanted me to do something different for a room they should've told me over the phone instead of kicking me out at 10PM.

This is my 4th time to Kauai and this hostel is well known on the island for having the rudest owner.

Like I said though, the other staff were friendly and it was easy to meet people here.

Autumn and her husband and staff where all so accommodating, friendly and thoughtful. There are many reason why I would recommend staying at their home. First of all, we stayed there for a week with 3 children and we felt right at home. Second, we stayed there during a weekend where they hosted their annual open house and we had the opportunity to enjoy a lovely band and food. Third, they are a short walk to the beach, restaurants and a beautiful bike path that leads you to view the eastern scenary of the island. Couldn’t have asked for more, our vacation there was unforgettable.

Well 40 bucks a night for a dorm is actually cheap for kauai...friendly staff, good company, nice vibe, clean sheets, hot shower...all good

I've stayed in hostels all over the world, and hand soap in the toilets has always been a given except for in the dirtiest, dingiest parts of Southeast Asia.

I called this hostel before I left LAX because I would arrive an hour later than they closed. I requested a bed for two nights and they said I was all set and they would leave a note and a key for me at the office.

Overall, my experience here was good. Not great, but good. The hostel itself was in good condition and it was clean, and the volunteer staff were very friendly and helpful, but the paid staff were often cold and rude, and they often gave the impression that they viewed their guests as inconveniences. For example, when I pointed out that there was no soap in the bathroom for people to wash their hands, the owner said "this is a hostel, not a hotel. We don't provide soap."

Person working there needs to take a few classes on hospitality. If you are a feminist then this is a place for u. Def got the feminist hypocrite vibe here. I had already confirmed and booked my stay using a credit card. When I got there they only took cash. the lady wouldn't let me charge my phone until I paid. She also asked me to leave when I was sitting on the couch in the booking area. The next day after I woke up i walked around the grounds to check things out. Another lady like the one from the movie "don't be a menace", suspiciously walked around watching me like I was not a guest, and if I was going to steal something. She then, "asked me if I was on something." Sorry lady I don't do Drugs and haven't even smoked a joint of weed in like 12 years. You are the one paranoid and on something. Very rude question to ask your guests, especially someone you don't know. Great that this place offers an affordable place to stay, as many of the hotels In Hawaii are expensive. They advertise separate rooms, but there are no doors, so no that is not another bedroom.
