It's not the newest resort but the grounds are well kept. The staff is a mix of super friendly and helpful with a few that are not. :( Pool is well kept but on the small side. The views of the beach are AMAZING if you are in an ocean front building. Not sure how many hotels or resorts have the same views.
This is a small island community. There are no 4-star hotels. This condominium complex is very nice and right on the beach. It is a great place to visit Kauai from.
Pono Kai resort is a great get-away spot when visiting Kauai. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the concierge helped us figure out areas we could visit when there was a flash flood warning in certain locations on the island. They have shuffle board, ping pong, tennis courts and a decent sized pool on the complex. The rooms are a little dated but very accommodating for a family of 4-6. Also the location is near a lot of great food and shopping places as well as a couple beaches
It works. We weren't planning on staying at a 5 star hotel, so we knew what to expect. Kitchen utensils and appliances we're good and we cooked some excellent meals. The Bowflex in the tiny gym was cool. We were able to check out beach chairs for free, and rent boogie boards at a cheap price.
We got here early to check in and although our room wasn't ready the staff was accommodating. They ended up having our room ready before 4 which was nice. The facilities are clean. The view is spectacular! Great location and within walking distance of many things. Highly recommend.
Oddest thing is it seems like the employees didn't care much for the town. Every question was met with "you don't want to do that here." For snorkeling that was true but it became a running joke for a us.
